Season 3 Finale

Season 3 Episodes 22/23 – “Through the Looking Glass”

Pretty cool episode, with Jack’s flashback not being a flashback, but a flash-forward instead. Let’s get right to it shall we:

On the beach the Losties pack up for the trip to the radio tower. Sun asks Jin why he is doing this and in English he replies:
Jin: “We need to go home.”

Bonnie and Greta have Charlie tied up in the hatch. They confirm they are working for Ben. They radio him to tell him the situation. No one else knew they were down there.

That evening the Others attack the beach. The three amigos are only able to explode two sets of dynamite before they are captured. From a distance the Losties notice this but Jack convinces them to keep moving:
Rose: “If you say live together die alone to me Jack I’m gonna punch you in your face.”
Bernard spills the beans about the Losties plan. When Ben finds out he takes Alex and they head out to find Jack and the gang.

Kate and Sawyer have a little tiff…
Kate: “They sent Juliet to check out Sun, but she was there to see if I was pregnant too.”
Sawyer: “Well let’s hope you’re not.”

Mikhail makes his way to the beach and starts taking shots at Desmond. Desmond swims down to the hatch. Mikhail follows and it seems he knows Bonnie and Greta:
Mikhail: “I thought you two were on assignment in Canada?”
Mikhail’s eye looks pretty gross. Ben calls down to the Looking Glass and tells Mikhail to kill Charlie, Greta and Bonnie.

Sawyer and Juliet head back to save the three amigos on the beach. During the trip she tells Sawyer that the rocks they had them breaking were to build a runway but she doesn’t know what it’s for. Hurley shows up and wants to help but they tell him he’s too fat.

Alex and Ben chat about why he brought her:
Alex: “Why did you let me come?”
Ben: “I let you come because I’m delivering you to your new family. I let you come because you betrayed me Alex.”
Alex: “You locked Karl in a cage. You put him in a room and tried to brainwash him.”
Ben: “I didn’t want him to get you pregnant.”
Alex: “Why do you have to stop them? Why don’t you just let them leave?”
Ben: “Because I can’t Alex.”

Locke wakes up in the ditch but can’t move his legs. He grabs a gun from one of the dead bodies. We hear some of the whispers and then Walt appears:
Walt: “Don’t John… put the gun down.”
Locke: “Walt?”
Walt: “Now get up John.”
Locke: “He shot me and I can’t move my legs.”
Walt: “You can move your legs. Now get out of the ditch John.”
Locke: “Why?”
Walt: “Because… you have work to do.”

Underwater Mikhail kills Greta and fatally wounds Bonnie. Desmond spears Mikhail.

Jack tries to make Kate feel better:
Jack: “He didn’t mean it you know…”
Kate: “Why are you sticking up for Sawyer?...”
Jack: “Because I love you.”
Rousseau tells Jack she won’t leave the island. Ben then arrives.
Ben: “History is about to repeat itself. The woman you are traveling with. The one who parachuted onto the island from a helicopter. She’s not who she says she is.”
Jack: “She’s not huh?”
Ben: “No she’s not. She’s a representative of some people who’ve been trying to find this island Jack. She’s one of the bad guys. If you phone her boat every single living person on this island will be killed."
Ben then pretends to kill Sayid, Jin and Bernard. Jack for the first time lets something happen. He then kicks the crap out of Ben.

Before Bonnie dies Charlie gets the code from her. It’s “Good Vibrations” by the Beach Boys.
Bonnie: “It was programmed by a musician.”

Alex learns Rousseau is her mother.

Hugo blasts onto the beach in the mini-bus killing Ryan Price. Sayid then kills Jason using only his feet {wicked}. Then Sawyer shoots down Tom. Juliet is pretty shocked that Tom is dead.
Hugo: “Attention Others… come in Others. If you are listening to this I want you to know we got you bastards. And unless the rest of you wanna be blown up you best stay away from our beach.”
Hugo tells the Losties everyone is Ok but no sign of Desmond or Charlie yet.

Charlie enters the code into the computer. The incoming transmission button lights up. It’s Penny. Charlie asks if she is on the boat:
Penny: “I’m not on a boat… who is Naomi?”
With that Mikhail blows the window out of the hatch with a grenade. Charlie closes the door to the room he’s in, saving Desmond. He writes on his hand NOT PENNY’S BOAT. Desmond mouths the words “bye brotha” to him. He then blesses himself. At at that we’ve seen the end of Charlie Pace.

Baby Aaron starts to cry as soon as Charlie dies. The phone then begins to work. They shut down Rousseau’s transmission. Naomi begins to dial the phone:
Ben: “Making that call is the beginning of the end.”
Locke then shows up and kills Naomi. He doesn’t have the guts to kill Jack though. Jack makes contact and someone is coming to rescue them.

Before I get into Jack’s flash-forward just wanted to note that a lot of people were killed off last night.

Body Count = 14
7 Others (Diane, Ivan and 5 more)
Bonnie
Greta
Ryan Price
Jason
Tom
Charlie Pace
Naomi Dorrit

Alrighty… we start with Jack on an oceanic flight quite liquored up with no seat belt on. He then spots something in a newspaper. He lands in LA, and pulls his jeep over on the side of a bridge. He tries to call Kate but gets her voicemail. He then climbs on the bridge to kill himself but a car crash takes place behind him. Jack again becomes the hero.

After saving a woman (Mrs. Arlington) and her son he is taken to the hospital. His ex-wife Sarah arrives and is extremely pregnant. She wouldn’t even give poor Jack a drive home.

Jack goes to visit Mrs. Arlington and tells Dr. Hamill he’d like to operate on her. Hamill tells Jack it’s taken care of. He takes an Oxycodone and heads out. Oxycodone is a stronger form of oxycotin (OxyContin contains only oxycodone and inert filler).

We then see Jack cruising down the street listening to a little “Scentless Apprentice” by Nirvana. He stops at a funeral home where he again tries to call Kate. After getting no answers again he takes the article from his pocket. With the use of my high-definition TV and PVR here is what I could read from the artile:

Los Angeles
Man Found Dead in Downtown Loft

The body of J… … ntham of New York was discovered shortly after 4 am in the … Grand Avenue… loud…. beam in the…

Here is one pic of the article but I used several still to get all the above info. So far we only know four characters whose names start with J … and seing how the last name ends in the article we can eliminate 3…
Jin Kwon
John Locke
James Ford

Now that leaves us with Jacob, whose last name we do not know. Or maybe it’s a totally new character we’ve never even met yet. Time will tell.

Either way no one shows up for the viewing.
Undertaker: “Friend or family?”
Jack: “Neither.”

Jack tries to get some more drugs at the pharmacy but is denied. He even tries to use a prescription he claims his dad filled out. When the pharmacist says she’ll call his office he says “He’s outta town right now.” Of course we know he’s dead. She says that she’s sure someone in his office will help her, but Jack storms off. Of course if she calls his office they’ll explain that Christian died.

Dr. Hamill lets Jack know that Mrs. Arlington is fine. He then says that Mrs. Arlington seeing Jack about to jump of the bridge is what caused the accident:
Jack: “Do you have any idea what I’ve been through. You do this… you get my father down here and if I’m drunker then he is you can fire me.”
Ok this little statement got people freaking out. If this is a flash-forward how could Jack’s father be alive. I have two theories on this, both revolving around the fact that his father is not alive:
1. Jack is drunk and high and has no idea what he’s talking about.
2. When Jack says get my father “down here” he doesn’t mean from upstairs he means from the heavens above.
Guess we’ll find out in 2008 … maybe.

Jack sits drunk and high in his house with maps everywhere trying to find his way back to the island. He calls Kate and she finally answers. They agree to meet:
Jack: “Yes at the airport… you know where.”

This is where we discover it really is the future.
Kate: “Hey”
Jack: “Hey”
Kate: “Saw you on the news. Still pulling people out of burning wreckage huh?”
Jack: “Old habits”
Kate: “You look terrible.”
Jack: “Thanks.”
Kate: “Why did you call me Jack?”
Jack: “[Hands her the article] I was hoping that you heard. Thought maybe you’d go to the funeral.
Kate: “Why would I go to the funeral?”
Jack: “I’ve been flyin’ a lot”
Kate: “What?”
Jack: “That golden pass that they gave us. I’ve been using it. Every Friday night I fly from LA to Tokyo, Singapore, Sydney. Then I get off, I have a drink, and then I fly home.”
Kate: “Why?”
Jack: “Cause I want it to crash Kate. I don’t care about anyone on board. Every little bump we hit or turbulence I actually close my eyes and I pray that I can get back.”
Kate: “This is not gonna change.”
Jack: “No. I’m sick of lying. We made a mistake.”
Kate: “I have to go. He’s gonna be wondering where I am.”
Jack: “We were not supposed to leave.
Kate: “Yes we were. Goodbye Jack.”
Jack: “We have to go back Kate. WE HAVE TO GO BACK”

So we know at least Kate and Jack get off the island, and that Oceanic gives them a golden ticket to fly anywhere as part of their settlement. It also seems they are lying to everyone about what really happened on the island. And who does Kate have to get back to? Sawyer? Seems too obvious.

And with that it’s 9 months before the next episode. Look at it this way… in 3 years from last night all your questions will be answered.

I considered flying to the producers’ houses and demanding an episode sooner, but then someone reminded me. You are a blog writer, “not Rambo”.

See you in 2008

Season 3 Episode 21

Before we start into this week’s episode let me give you a full update of the future of Lost. After next week’s 2 hour finale there will be 3 more seasons of Lost. The series will end May 2010. The next three seasons however will be different. Instead of 23 episodes per season there will only be 16. Those episodes will run back-to-back from February to May for the next 3 years. In other words after next week we won’t have a new episode of Lost until February 2008. The one positive of all of that is at least the remaining 48 episodes should be all “action packed” as there is no room for wasted time.

Looking forward to next week, Evageline Lilly (Kate) was on the Jimmy Kimmel show May 9th and had this to say about the season finale:
Lilly: “The end I might add is incredible… I’m not a huge crazy fan of the show only because … I’m not a television watcher period. There is a reveal at the end of this season that when I was told it I actually got goose bumps all over my body and I was, like, beside myself with excitement.”
To watch the interview in its entirety click HERE.

Now, onto the translation of the whispers from last episode as promised. For those who don’t know the whispers you hear in the show are usually backwards and are played over top of each other. They are usually in several different voices as if it is a group of people talking. Some computer geeks sit down with their audio equipment and figure them out. Keep in mind I didn’t transcribe these so we are taking someone else’s word they are authentic.
First, when Ben run’s to the fence and sees his mother:
Talk to him
Tell him that you're his mother
Tell him to be patient
That'll just make it worse
What's happening”
If we can go over there we might be able to see it, but I don't know
Help us come through the fence
We're sending one, don't worry”
“You’re the one…”

Right before Ben meets Richard for the first time, while he’s running through the woods:
“Your hope is here”

”There’s no turning around”
”Don’t forget him”
”Is anyone awake”
”We should take him”
”Did you hear about him?”
”Is anyone on”
”That’s what I mean”
”It’s heavy”
“Don’t worry”
What does that all mean? Your guess is as good as mine. The quotes that stand out to me are the “is anyone on” and “is anyone awake”. Almost like these are all different people at different posts observing. But truly who knows.

Season 3 Episode 21 - Greatest Hits

Let’s first go through Charlie’s Greatest Hits:

#5 THE FIRST TIME I HEARD MYSELF ON THE RADIO
You may have noticed the number on the radio was 23 when Charlie’s band mate was scanning through.

#4 DAD TEACHING ME TO SWIM AT BUTLINS

#3 THE CHRISTMAS LIAM GAVE ME THE RING
We learn the ring doesn’t stand for Drive Shaft but for Dexter Stratton, a ancestor of Charlie.

#2 WOMAN OUTSIDE CONVENT GARDENS CALLS ME A HERO
In case you didn’t catch it the woman Charlie saves from the mugger is Nadia, Sayid’s girlfriend. She tells Charlie 3 other people passed by before he saved her. Guess that makes him the 4th.
Charlie: “The last time I was in a fight I was 8 years old.”
Nadia: “You are a hero sir, and don’t let anyone ever tell you differently.”
The question I have left is who was the mugger? The brief shot we see of him leads me to believe it may be Charlie’s brother. But time will tell I’m sure.

#1 THE NIGHT I MET YOU

My references to Alice in Wonderland last week really come through in this episode. I will highlight the connections as I go through.
If we put this episode in its proper order here is how it goes.

Ben returns to camp, where we see Alex carving up a white rabbit. Ben gets his troops together and sends them off to the Losties beach a day early. Alex then runs to Karl and tells him to warn the Losties:
Karl: “If I get caught your father’s gonna kill me this time.”
Alex: “Is he my father?”

Jack takes everyone to the big field where he tells them Rousseau has been getting dynamite, and when the Others come they are going to blow them to hell.

The return to the beach where Sayid is working on the phone:
Juliet: “Ben is using one of the Dharma stations to block all the signals off the island except ours.”
Sayid: “What station?”
Juliet: “They call it the looking glass.”
Through the Looking Glass” would be the sequel to “Alice in Wonderland”.

This is when Desmond tells Charlie that in a flash he sees Claire and Aaron being rescued by a helicopter. For this to happen, Charlie must swim down to the Looking Glass and flip a switch, where he will then drown.

Sayid pulls out the blue prints of the Looking Glass hatch. If you look close the Dharma symbol for this hatch has a white rabbit in the centre.
Charlie: “I was junior swim champion in Northern England. I can hold my breath for 4 minutes.”
This statement I have a problem with. Lets go back to Season 1 Episode 5 which was ironically titled White Rabbit. The episode starts with a woman drowning and Charlie running to get Jack:
CHARLIE Jack. Jack. Someone's out there. You've gotta -- the current's -- there's someone out there, look.

[Shot of ocean, and splashing in the distance. We can hear someone yell help.]
CHARLIE: I woke up and she's -- I don't swim. [Jack runs toward the ocean.] I don't swim.
He seems to swim ok at the end of this episode.

Karl arrives in the beach to warn that the Others are coming. The Losties will now have to use guns to shot the dynamite instead of detonating it.

In Rose and Bernard’s first appearance of the season Bernard volunteers to be one of the shooters.

Charlie and Desmond head off to find the wire, and we see that Charlie has left his ring behind for Aaron to keep. After debating with Desmond who should go Charlie knocks him out and swims down. He finds the Looking Glass is full of oxygen, but to his bigger surprise there are two well armed women inside as well. I’ve been told their names are Bonnie and Greta. Who they are and what they are doing we shall find out next week… hopefully.

Season 3 Episode 20

Season 3 Episode 20 – The Man Behind the Curtain

Let’s get the regular Losties out of the way first. Long story short, Sawyer returns with the tape of Juliet. When Jack and Juliet show up she tells Sawyer to flip the tape:
Ben: “Juliet it’s Ben. I’m sending three teams to extract Kwon the night after tomorrow. We won’t have time to run Austen’s sample so if you determine that she or anyone else is pregnant mark their tents and we’ll take them too. Good luck.”

Juliet apparently informed Jack of the situation and now he has a plan.

On to Mr. Ben Linus
Ben was born off the Island. We see a sign reading “Portland 32” so we can guess it’s either Oregon or Maine. Portland is where Juliet left from to get to the Island, Maine is the home of Stephen King whose books have made appearances on the show.

His mom’s name is Emily. His dad his Roger, you may recognize him as Uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite. As Roger rushes to save his wife he meets Horris Goodspeed. As Emily dies she tells Roger to call her son Benjamin.

Many years later Ben and his dad join the Dharma Initiative and come to the Island. While registering we see an orientation video being played. Here are the audible parts:
Marvin Candle: “Welcome to the Island. For your own comfort and safety we ask that you stay within the confines of your new living quarters. Our barracks are surrounded by a high frequency sonar fence to protect us from the island’s abundant and diverse wild life. You are now a member of the Dharma Initiative. Every morning you’ll be given a new code that will allow you to cross outside the fence in case of some disaster… there are properties on this island that exist no where else on earth. Our mission is to study these properties for the benefit of mankind and the advancement of world piece. Most of you will be working on the mainland. Should you be assigned to supervise a study… 3 times a day…”
I’m assuming the 3 times a day discusses the Pella Ferry that would transport people, as mentioned in the Pearl Station orientation video. After this Ben’s dad gets his uniform and becomes Roger Work Man… the skeleton Hugo and Jin found in the crashed van.

During registration Ben meets Annie. She gives him an Apollo Chocolate bar. Avid fans of Lost will know we’ve seen these several times in the show (Boone eats one the first day of the crash. Shannon refuses to because she doesn’t want to get fat).

We then see Ben in Dharma Elementary school learning about Volcanoes. Apparently the Volcano on the Island erupted many years ago. During class the “Hostiles” attack. That evening Ben sees his dead mother through his bedroom window.

On Ben’s birthday Annie gives him a wooden sculpture of himself. This is the last we see of Annie so I’m thinking we’ll see her again in flashbacks next season. Clearly Ben’s dad isn’t big on celebrating his birthday:
Roger Linus: “Kind of hard to celebrate on the day you killed your mom.”
Ben runs from the house and to the fence where again he sees his dead mother:
Emily: “It’s not time yet Benjamin.”
Is it just me or is she dressed a lot like Alice in Wonderland? Maybe that’s why when Ben returns with the code (54439) he uses his white rabbit to test the fence first. He also used a white rabbit to trick Sawyer when he was held captive.

Ben then runs through the jungle looking for his mother. He then hears the whispers. I don’t think we’ve heard the whispers since the episode where Eko was killed. Within a few days someone on the internet will slow down and transcribe these whispers and I’ll post them here when they do. As Ben stops in the jungle he sees who we believe to be Richard. If it is Richard he as aged well. Another question; if it is Richard how did Ben eventually become the leader? A question for next season I guess. Ben tells Richard his mother died off the island but he has seen her here. He then asks Richard to take him with him:
Richard: “Maybe that can happen… you are going to have to be very patient.”

Many years later Ben is now a Work Man. It is again his birthday and he goes with his father on a delivery run. He asks his dad if he truly blames him for his mother’s death:
Roger: “What do I know?”
Ben: “You know I’ve missed her too. Maybe as much as you have. But the difference is that for as long as I can remember I’ve had to put up with you. And doing that required a tremendous amount of patience.“
Ben then puts on a gas mask and cracks a can of CTP (Cytidine triphosphate) ending the life of Roger Work Man. This is why he was so adamant about Locke killing his own father I suppose. While he was gone the hostiles apparently gassed the rest of the Dharma Initiative. The hostiles are dressed like savages but Richard is clean shaven. Does this mean they were pretending too? The hostiles bury the bodies in a large ditch, but Ben tells Richard to leave is father in the jungle.

Now back in real time, it is once again Ben’s birthday. Locke has returned with his own father’s dead body, and wants Ben to tell him the secrets of the island. Locke calls Ben a fraud:
Locke: ”The Man Behind the Curtain… the Wizard of Oz.”
There have already been references to the Wizard of Oz on the show. For instant when the Losties originally captured Ben he told them his name was Henry Gale. Henry Gale was Dorothy’s uncle in the movie. He also said he crashed in a balloon. This was one of the ways Dorothy tried to escape Oz.

Mikhail returns to camp. He verifies that Naomi is not an Other by informing Ben of her landing. When she said “I’m not alone” she was referring to her ship just off shore. He also says that he is alive because the pylons were not set at a lethal level.

Locke tells Mikhail Ben is busy and is taking him to see Jacob. He then gives him a beat down to prove his point. Before they leave to see Jacob, Alex gives Locke a gun. I guess she knows what her dad will try to do:
Alex: “Happy birthday Dad.”

Jacob’s camp is surrounded by what looks to be gun powder. Inside Ben starts to talk to an empty chair. Locke thinks it is a bunch of nonsense and starts to leave. Then Jacob speaks: “Help me.” Locke still believes Ben is crazy and turns on his flashlight. And with that the place goes poltergeist. And for a few seconds you can actually see Jacob sitting in his chair. CLICKING HERE will take you to slow motion video of the scene.

So they leave Jacob’s cabin and Ben takes Locke to where all the Dharma folk are buried:
Ben: “This is where I came from John. These were my people. The Dharma Initiative. They came here seeking harmony but they couldn’t even co-exist with the islands original inhabitants. And when it became clear that one side had to go… one side had to be purged, I did what I had to do. I was one of the people that was smart enough to make sure I didn’t end up in that ditch. Which makes me considerably smarter then you John.
[SHOOTS JOHN] What did Jacob say to you?”
Locke: “Why did you do this?”
Ben: “Cause you heard him. Now I need to know what he said.”
Locke: “Help me.”
Ben: “John I’m not going to ask you again. What did he say to you?”
Locke: “He said help me.”
Ben: “Well I certainly hope he helps you John.”
Looks like Locke is “special” and Ben is not happy about it.

Season 3 Episode 19

Season 3 Episode 19 The Brigg

Really good episode… especially because a lot of my predictions came true.

Let’s run through the episode on “Locke” time starting 8 days ago.

After seeing his dad Ben explains to Locke the next step:
Ben:”… we’re leaving first thing in the morning; all of us.”
Locke: “Where are you going?”
Ben: “We’re going to a new place; well and old place actually.”

At the new/old place we see that Cindy and the kids from the tail section are still alive and well. The rest of the Others are very interested in Locke:
Cindy: “Don’t mind them, there are just excited you are here.”
Locke: “Excited?”
Cindy: “We’ve been waiting for you.”

Ben is finally out of the wheelchair
Ben: “I believe I have you to thank for this John.”
Locke: “Me?”
Ben: “A week ago I couldn’t fell my toes; but the minute you showed up I started to feel pins and needles.”

Flash back to my blog for Season 3 Episode 13, and I quote myself:
“Did he crash on his own? Or is Ben telling the truth that he showed up in the big box? (I truly don’t believe there is a big box; I think he used it as a metaphor to explain how things just seem to happen on the Island).”

Well well well
Ben: “Why do you think you brought him here?”
Locke: “Oh…oh…oh… the magic box. Ok Ben how about you show me the…”
Ben: “The magic box is a metaphor John.”
DAMN!!! I amaze myself sometimes.

So Ben wants Locke to kill his dad but he couldn’t get it done. He then chats with Richard:
Richard: “He wanted to embarrass you.”
Locke: “I’m sorry?”
Richard: “Ben knew you weren’t going to kill your own father. He put you in front of everyone in our camp just so they could all watch you fail.”
Locke: “Why?”
Richard: “Cause when word got back here that there was a man with a broken spine on the plane who could suddenly walk again, well people here began to get very excited because that… that could only happen to someone who is extremely special… we’re looking for someone to remind us we are here for more important reasons.”

Richard then gives Locke Sawyers file to show him why Sawyer will want to kill his dad. I’ve been trying to figure out for weeks what other show I’ve seen Richard on. The show was “Suddenly Susan” and he played Luis Rivera (had an accent on the show).

Next thing you know the Others are packing up and moving again. Ben tells Locke not to follow them unless he kills his father and brings the body with him.
Locke: “But you can’t leave me.”
Ben: “Don’t tell me what I can’t do John.”
This line from Ben is significant because Locke has used it sever times. For example in Season 1 Episode 4 when the man in Australia tells him he can’t go on the walkabout:
Locke: “Hey, hey, don't you walk away from me. [The wheelchair revealed]. You don't know who you're dealing with. Don't ever tell me what I can't do, ever. This is destiny. This is destiny. This is my destiny. [yelling] I'm supposed to do this, dammit. Don't tell me what I can't do. Don't tell me what I can't. . .”

So away Locke goes and takes his dad and puts him in the Black Rock. He then goes and gets Sawyer.
Sawyer: “Ok Tarzan, so now that you’re back from your ‘blow up everything that can get us off this Island’ tour how about you tell me why you joined up with the damn enemy”

He lures Sawyer to the Black Rock by saying it is Ben he has. He then locks Sawyer and Cooper in the Brigg together. Rousseau then makes an appearance. What does she need the dynamite for?

Now before we go any further let’s once again flash back to my blog for Season 3 Episode 13, where I shall quote myself again:
“There is still a strong theory that Anthony Cooper is the real Sawyer. The real Sawyer meaning the con man who killed James “Sawyer” Ford’s parents.”
And once again Jones is money in the bank.

So how did Locke’s dad get to the Island?
Cooper: “I’m driving down I10 through Tallahassee when BAM someone slams into the back of my car. I go right into the divider at 70mph. The next thing I know the paramedics are strapping me to a gurney stuffing me into the back of an ambulance and one of them actually smiles at me as he pops the IV in my arm. And then nothing, just black. The next thing I know I wake up in a dark room tied up, gag in my mouth and when the door opens I’m looking up at the same man I threw out a window. John Locke, my dead son… he’s dead because the plane he was flying on crashed in the Pacific.

Now before everyone starts freaking out about this “The Island is Hell” crap; be serious. It’s all smoke and mirrors. I promise you, the island is not hell. I’m pretty sure if Juliet was in hell she wouldn’t have taken a sub to get there.

And on that note, Sawyer kills Locke’s dad. If they were in hell, how would you kill someone who is already dead?

As Locke is about to leave, Sawyer asks him if it was really true that he was a cripple.
Locke: “Not anymore.”
Meaning not physically of course, but now that his father is dead, not mentally either.

Back on the beach the Losties are dealing with the “Naomi” situation. They decide to bring Sayid into the loop. And why exactly was Sayid digging that hole?

Sayid: “You told my friends the wreckage of flight 815 was discovered. Did you mean the partial wreckage?”
Naomi: “No. They found the entire plane off the coast of Bali in an ocean trench 4 miles deep. They sent down cameras on these little robots to survey the wreck. The bodies were all there.”
Sayid: “So if you weren’t looking for us who were you looking for?”
Naomi: “Him.”
Sayid: “Desmond?”
Naomi: “My company was hired by a woman named Penelope Widmore. I don’t know why, I never met her. She gave us a set of coordinates. We’ve been conducting a differential GPS grid search ever since.
Sayid: “You knew about the Island?”
Naomi: “Island? We were given coordinates in the middle of the bloody ocean. We thought it was a fools errand, till 3 days ago. I was flying back to the ship when all of the sudden the clouds cleared and I saw land. The instruments started spinning. I realized I was going down so I grabbed my shoot and I bailed.”

Kate finds out about Naomi and tells Jack. As she’s spilling her guts…
Juliet: “We should tell her.”
Jack: “No.”
Kate: “Tell me what?”
Juliet: “We should tell her.”
Jack: “Not yet.”
Looks like Jack knows all about Juliet being the mole. Maybe the two of them are planning a counter attack.

And since Sawyer has the tape Juliet left Ben things are gonna get sticky I’m sure.

Next week: Season 3 Episode 20 – The Man Behind the Curtain – Ben flashback preview
Maybe we’ll get to meet Jacob??

That’s it for a week. “I’m on my own journey now.”
