Season 4 Episode 6

Ok let’s start with a little news first. It looks like Lost will be taking a 4 week break after episode 8 thanks to the writers strike. Episode 8 airs Thursday, March 20th and Episode 9 will not air until Thursday, April 24th. There will be no breaks between Episode 9 and the Season Finale Episode 13. These last 5 episodes are still in production so let’s hope they get done.

Also, I’ve spent the last couple days playing the Lost video game Via Domus. The story part of the game is pretty neat; however the game play is awful and frustrating. The story plays out like this, you are a survivor of 815 (not a character we’ve met on the TV show) and from the crash you’ve developed amnesia. Each chapter of the game plays out like an episode (even starting with “…previously on Lost” each time). During the episodes you have normal Lost flashbacks, but from your flashbacks you learn about your past. To summarize your name is Elliot Maslow, a paparazzo photographer who caused the death of his girlfriend Lisa Gellhorn to get a great story. Your flashbacks play you out as quite the heal. On the island you see visions of Lisa (similar to Jack seeing his father). In the final episode you make a deal with Ben to bring him Jack in return for a boat off the island. As you are about to turn him over you have your final flashback and the guilt over Lisa’s deaths make you save Jack. Juliet then helps you get to the beach where there is a boat waiting and gives you the bearing of 325 to follow. You hop on the boat and head out when all of the sudden you look up to see flight 815 crashing above you. You wake up on the beach after the crash to see Lisa… now alive, a survivor from the flight herself ???? Time travel again? Really cool ending; watch by clicking HERE.

As for the missing pieces episode, there wasn’t anything in the episode we hadn’t discussed. If you did see it however you would have noticed some confirmation on a lot of the things I pointed out like the Hanso connection to the Black Rock, as well as the comparison of the light from Faraday’s machine to the light in the sky after Desmond blew up the Swan hatch.

Season 4 Episode 6
The Other Woman – Juliet Flashback

This Episode can be divided into 3

1. JULIET FLASHBACK
Juliet’s first week on the island she meets the local therapist, Harper Stanhope. On Harper's wall in her office you can see a “Certificate of Recognition” from the Hanso Foundation.

During her first meeting with Goodwin, Juliet discovers he is working with chemicals and that he is married to Harper. They discuss the death of Henrietta, the first woman Juliet loses in childbirth on the island. She would lose 8 more including a woman named Sabine.
Juliet: “It’s like the immune system turns on the fetus.”

Juliet meets with Harper again:
Harper: “So Juliet, what do you think of Ben?”
Juliet: “He’s great… very smart and intense; challenging. He’s been really good to me.”
Harper: “Of course he has, you look just like her.”
My guess is that the “her” in question is Ben’s childhood girlfriend Annie. Annie was the little girl who made wooden dolls of Ben and herself. If you own last season on DVD, watch this flashback episode (Season 3 Episode 20, The Man Behind the Curtain) and turn on the commentary, where the show creators describe Annie as being of “seismic” importance to Lost.

Harper reveals that she followed Juliet and Goodwin and watched them:
Harper: “Now if you continue to have a relationship with Goodwin there will be consequences. I don’t want him to get hurt.”
Juliet: “I would never hurt him.”
Harper: “I’m not talking about you I’m talking about Ben.”

During a date on the beach Goodwin pours some wine he stole off the sub:
Goodwin: “A little less than a kilometre from here he has me working with chemicals that could kill every man, woman and child on this island if I flip the wrong switch. Trust me, Ben has enough on his plate. The last thing he cares about is you and me… what’s Ben gonna do?”

While Goodwin is on assignment with the Tailies, Ben invites Juliet over for dinner. If you didn’t crack up at Ben being all giddy while cooking dinner this show isn’t for you.
Ben: “I wanna thank you for how wonderful you’ve been with Zach and Emma.”
Juliet: “They are really sweet kids. Ben they’ve been asking about their mother in Los Angeles. I’m not really sure what to say.”
Ben: “They’ll stop asking in time.”
Juliet: “They are children, do they really belong here?”
Ben: “They are on the list Juliet, who are we to question who’s on the list and who’s not?”
If you don’t remember Zach and Emma are the two little kids the Others kidnapped from the tail section survivors.

In one of the best “Ben” scenes ever, he takes Juliet to Goodwin’s dead body:
Juliet: “You knew this would happen… why?”
Ben: “WHY? You are asking me why? After everything I did to get you here, after everything I’ve done to keep you here, how can you possibly not understand… that you’re MINE?”

2. THE TEMPEST
Faraday and Charlotte vanish into the jungle. Juliet, Jack, Sun and Jin follow after them. Juliet hears some whispers then runs into Harper:
Harper: “I came to deliver a message from Ben. The two people you are looking for … they’re headed to the Tempest. And if they figure out how to deploy that gas everyone on this island is going to die.”
Juliet: “Why don’t you stop them?”
Harper: “Cause Ben wants you to.”
Juliet: “How can Ben possibly know where they are when he’s a prisoner?”
Harper: “Ben is exactly where he wants to be.”
Miles used this line as well. Jack shows up, the whispers come back and Harper vanishes. Of course the question is, is she really taking orders from Ben? Keep in mind Ben is being held in his own basement, there is likely a way into it.

Jack starts asking about the Tempest:
Juliet: “It’s safer for you if I don’t talk about it… it’s an electrical station that powers the island.”

Kate catches up to Faraday and Charlotte and gets knocked out for her troubles.
Jack and Juliet find her and Juliet ditches the two of them.
Kate lets Jack know that the people on the freighter know she is a fugitive.

Juliet reaches the Tempest and we see its Dharma logo for the first time.

She asks Faraday to stop messing with the computer:
Faraday: “I’m just trying to make it safe.”

She then gets tackled by Charlotte and a cat fight ensues. Juliet gets the upper hand and Charlotte questions if she can trust Ben with the gas:
Charlotte: “We know he’s used it before.”
Faraday then saves the day:
Faraday: “… that… that was a close one.”

Jack and Kate arrive and Juliet talks to Jack:
Juliet: “These people have come here to wage war against Ben and Ben’s gonna win. And when he does you don’t wanna be anywhere near me.”
Then they kiss. People start telling me “they finally kissed”. Oh how quickly we forget, that was actually kiss #2:

3. MR LINUS
Claire asks John to talk to Miles but he shuts her down pretty quick. The purpose of this was just to show how Ben manipulates Locke by saying people will question everything he does.

Locke brings Ben supper:
Ben: “Rabbit today?”
Locke: “We’re running out of chickens.”
Ben: “This didn’t have a number on it did it?”
HAHAHA

Locke: “I assume you have a plan?”
Ben: “I always have a plan.”
Locke: “Does it involve you raising 3.2 million dollars?... wheew that’s a lot of money. Wait maybe this will get you started.”
Where did Locke get the money to hand to Ben? I believe it is the $20 bill from Season 2 that the real Henry Gale wrote the note to his wife/girlfriend Jennifer on.

Ben tells Locke they have a common enemy. Not the people on the boat but the one they work for. They make a deal, Ben gives some answers Locke gives him some freedom. Locke is concerned he’ll just take off:
Ben: “If my people still wanted me John they would have stormed this camp long ago.”
Ben then pulls out a video of Charles Widmore:
Ben: “This is the man that’s been trying to find the island.”
Locke: “How does Widmore know about the island?”
Ben: “I don’t know, but he does.”
Locke: “What does he want?”
Ben: “John 3 months ago in Gainsville Florida the Virgin Mary seemed to appear on a patch of mold on the side of an old housing complex. When the word got out over 5000 people came to see her face for themselves. You survived an airline crash on this island. One minute you’re in a wheelchair the next minute you’re doing jumping jacks. If 5000 people came out to see a piece of mold how many people do you think would come here to see you?”
The video finishes with Widmore beating someone up and then seems to spot the person who is video taping.

Ben gives John his file on Widmore.
Locke: “There’s one more thing I need to know. Your man on the boat, I want you to tell me who it is.”
Ben: “Alright, but you might wanna sit down.”
Can you believe there are people still doubting my Michael theory?

THE FINAL SCENE
Ever hear the old saying “close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades”?
Well last week Miles got the grenade, this week Hurley and Sawyer got the horseshoes. And have you ever noticed Hurley always wins (horseshoes, ping pong, etc)? The two of them spot Ben walking free:
Ben: “See you guys at dinner.”
