Season 3 Episode 12

Season 3 Episode 12 – Par Avion

So the big shock of the night was that Claire and Jack are half brother and sister. A lot of us predicted this a long time ago…

Here is some dialogue from Season 2 Episode 20 – Two for the Road
[Christian knocks on the door as Ana waits in the car watching.]

CHRISTIAN: I just want to see my daughter. [then yelling] She's my daughter and I have every right to see her.
LINDSEY: No, you don't have a right. Now get out. [She tries to close the door, but Christian tries to bust his way in. Ana runs over.]
CHRISTIAN: I pay the mortgage on this house... I want to see my daughter.[Ana pulls Christian back.]
ANA: What the hell is wrong with you?
LINDSEY: Don't you ever come back here. [Ana pulls Christian to the car.]

Now the majority of us assumed Lindsey was Claire’s mother, but as we’ve learned she is actually Claire’s aunt. And since we know Christian dies roughly 24 hours after the above dialogue, Claire had actually met her dad long before this.

It should also be noted that this episode started with a zoom in shot of Claire’s eye. Almost every episode in season 1 started with this same shot of whomever the flashback was about.

It was also alluded to in season 1 that Claire and her mother weren’t seeing eye to eye. In Season 1 Episode 10 the following is discussed when Claire and Thomas find out Claire is pregnant;
THOMAS: Hey, Claire? If we, if we wanted to we could do this.

CLAIRE: Stop it.
THOMAS: No. I'm not kidding.
CLAIRE: My mom would disown me.
THOMAS: She basically has already.

What I find odd about this is at this point Claire’s mother is already in a coma.

Claire tells us that her mother and she were fighting in the car. She told her mother she hated her, she wished she wasn’t her mother and she wished she was dead. The police officer also hints that it was Claire’s fault the accident occurred.

Two other stories take place in this episode. The first revolves around Claire chasing the seagulls. In the end she finds out that Desmond is saving Charlie. She also points out in her letter that the Losties have been on the Island for 80 days. Since the plane crashed September 22nd, 2004, that would mean last night’s episode took place on December 11th. 12/11… 12+11 = 23
Our boy Sawyer tried to call Claire Barbie, but Sun cuts him off.

Locke, Kate, Danielle, Sayid and Mikhail are still wandering the woods when Locke pulls out a classic line:
Sayid: “What do you suggest; we shot him like a dog?”
Locke: “No, I like dogs.”

Mikhail is still a fountain of information. He tells the crew that the Submarine beacon doesn’t work anymore. He and Kate then have the following chat:
Mikhail: “I misspoke. What I meant to say was you are incapable of understanding.”
Kate: “And why am I not capable?”
Mikhail: “Because you are not on the list.”
He then goes on to explain that the HIM the Others refer to is not Ben.
Mikhail: “You are not on the list because you are flawed, because you are angry, and weak, and frightened.”
He then let’s Kate and Sayid know he’s never met them before (although he does know their full names).
Mikhail: “But you John Locke, you I might have a fleeting memory of. But I must be confused because the John Locke I know was para…”
And at that Danielle cuts him off. It seems Mikhail knew Locke was paralyzed. I’m thinking we may see him in a flashback some day. Shortly after, Locke makes Mikhail’s death wish come true and pushes him into the security system. We also discover that Locke knew about the C4 in the Flame Station, and has taken some with him.

The crew then stumbles upon the Other’s village or as I like to call it “O-Town”. There we see Jack and Tom playing a little football. Not sure who is playing what position but from what I know of Tom he’s not the Tight End. Everyone is freaking out but maybe they are reading too much into it. Has Jack become one of them, or is he just happy that Ben said he would send him home. He could also just be faking and plotting a way to rescue everyone.

Next week
Episode 13, “The Man From Tallahassee” – Locke flashback

Until then “just go… go back to your real family.”
